Boudoir Photography has been around for a long time, and it's only growing in popularity as women seek and learn to empower themselves, gain confidence, and reclaim their bodies and their sensuality. We are living in a world where women are realizing just how powerful they are, but there is also still a lingering sense that a woman who does something empowering for herself, spends money on herself, gives herself the gift of a truly unique experience that is all her own, etc. is somehow being "selfish" or "vain". The world of women is more empowered than it's ever been, but why are we still afraid to allow ourselves the chance to truly "feel" like the goddesses that we are?
Beauty is so much more than what shows on the outside...it's a feeling, a twinkle or shine in the eyes, an authentic smile, and that sense of confidence that just oozes from a woman when she knows that what she feels on the inside matches what she looks like on the inside, and both of those things are AMAZING! I have found that a woman truly becomes what she "believes", and if she believes she is strong, powerful, beautiful, confident and worthy, that's exactly what she is going to be.
Almost every single woman who I meet is critical of her appearance in some way. Trust me when I say that as you walk through the world and see a woman who you think is absolutely gorgeous and "perfect" in every way, she has looked at herself in the mirror and been critical of certain things that she thinks she needs to hide, minimize, maximize, etc. For this reason, the art of Boudoir Photography gives a woman the chance to see herself through a different lens. Stepping out of our comfort zones is hard, and this is exactly the same for each and every woman who I photograph - they're excited, of course, but they're also nervous and worried. Going through their wardrobe, spending time with my professional makeup artists, rocking out to their favorite music while we have our session...it's all part of the transformation that ultimately comes full circle when they see their images. This is when I watch them bloom from the "maybe I look pretty" to "I'm a GODDESS and I feel so confident". This is something that all women deserve - an experience that can't happen without all the pieces falling together.
I can't believe I changed so much in just three hours. I walked into Sarah's little studio and I was so nervous that I almost backed out at the last minute. I had been hiding myself for long long because I just didn't feel like I was good enough or pretty enough or young enough or thin enough. I figured, 'there's nothing she can do with me'. After I saw my photographs (which was really fantastic right after the session and it wouldn't have been the same without seeing them that day), I literally felt my inner warrior coming out. I looked amazing! But it was more than just me looking good in pictures, I could see the woman I always wanted to be in those photographs and then I realized, I've always been that woman I just never realized it until that minute. After I ordered my album and was walking out, I caught a look at myself in the mirror and I almost didn't recognize myself, and it wasn't because I looked very different, it was because I was different on the inside, more confident, lighter, stronger, all those things.
