One of the most common questions I get when it comes to Boudoir Photography Sessions is "What do I wear?". That's usually followed by something along the lines of "I have nothing to wear" or "I'm not sure I'm a 'lingerie girl'". I'm here to tell you that you don't have to be a "lingerie girl" to completely ROCK a Boudoir Session. "Miss A" came into the studio with a lot of great choices, including some really killer accessories like a Japanese Fan and the coolest Top Hat and gloves I've seen in a long time. We had TONS of things to choose from, but none of them were particularly "lingerie" based. Sure, she brought the staple bra and panty sets, but, honestly, all of her favorite photographs (and mine) were ones that incorporated something unique and different, like the awesome Kimono style robe pictured above.
One of my favorite shots of "Miss A" is pictured above, where she's wearing the tried and true "man's button down shirt". It could be her boyfriend's or her husband's, or even just something she bought herself because she's a FIERCE chick...that's the allure of it! This look is probably one of the easiest for any woman to achieve, and yet it's SO extremely beautiful and sexy. There's both a touch of class and a feeling of demure beauty to this particular outfit.
"Miss A" and I ended our session with her wearing this beautiful blue "nighty". It was simple...a little bit of lace at the top, but otherwise understated, and you know what? That let HER beauty shine through. When you look at the photograph above, you're not focusing on what this gorgeous girl is wearing, you're immediately drawn to HER, and that's what it's all about.
So, while I'm still a HUGE fan of lingerie, and a Boudoir session is the perfect excuse to go out and grab yourself something fun, flirty, sexy, crazy, etc., if you're not into that particular "style", it doesn't mean that you can't have an incredible session. Most of the pieces from "Miss A's" session are things that most of us probably already have in our closets, and that's pretty cool.
